How to search for matters within the DMS

This guide will demonstrate how to search for Matters within the DMS without requiring the Matter number.

1. Open Google Chrome, either by clicking on it in the Taskbar or searching for it in the Windows Search Bar.

1. This will open Chrome and take you to the Harper James Portal Homepage.
2. If you are searching for a matter, you are already subscribed to click ‘My matters’, if you are searching for a matter, you are not subscribed to click ‘All matters’.
3. Next, search for the matter by name, matter ID, or keyword within the search bar provided. You do not need the matter ID to find a matter. Usually, the matter name or company name is enough to get you to the matter you wish to find and be subscribed to.

1. Once you type in the key details of the matter into the search bar, press Enter. This will produce a list of matters which relate to the key words you inputted into the search bar, from there look through the list in order to find the matter you wish to find and subscribe to said matter if needed.
2. This will then add the now subscribed matter into your ‘My matter’ section on the Harper James portal and will allow for quicker searching of it in the future.
